Just made it to my first ever show; 6th try is the charm!
I ended up getting there really, really early because being as short as I am (woo hoo, 5'!), I wanted to make sure I had the chance to get close to the front. Unfortunately after I picked up my ticket and got in line, my stomach decided to say "forget you!" to the dinner i'd gotten at a nearby tavern... so I had to run into the bar next door to ... well. Yeah. lol.
By the time I got back outside, the line had not only doubled, but very nearly quadrupled and I hadn't exactly asked the bloke next to me to save mine before I ran off haha. So... to the back of the line I went. I made it inside and to the merch desk only to find the cash I'd stuck in my back pocket gone... probably fallen out sometime while I was losing my dinner, sadly. So... no shirt for me.
Sadness! Well, next time!
On the plus side though, while everyone else was buying stuff, I managed to wiggle my way up near the front rail, just behind a few taller folks, where I managed to have a decent view on Emma's side of the stage
Watched Glass Delirium, which was really good, enjoyed Cilver and really really liked Eyes Set To Kill; then Lacuna Coil came on and of course we all had fun bouncing around in the front. Nothing like a concert to make friends with strangers!
Then it was time for Sick Puppies. I was squeaking a little bit, due to being so excited... the folks around me I'd been chatting with all night (except the one guy who'd squeezed in and managed to get up to the rail sometime during lacuna coil) were all just as excited, and... well, the girl next to me, she said she'd been to 3-4 shows so far with her little sister. When she learned it was my first time, she promptly moved me over so I could stand behind her little sister, as she was taller than I am. She said "hey, I'm taller, and you're popping your Puppies Cherry!"
The bloke who'd managed to squeeze in also ended up ducking out partway through... he offered his rail spot to the gal who'd moved me behind her sister, who then turned to me and said "get up there, girl!" I didn't have to be told twice!!!
So, my first time where *something* didn't go wrong to cause me to miss it, I'm at the concert of one of my all time favourite bands, and some kind chick bumps me right up to the front, where I get to watch, and video and take pictures without heads in the way, can see and hear and FEEL that base rolling right through my chest... frickin' incredible.
And then to top it all off, somehow... SOMEHOW one of Shim's picks got tossed over to my area of the crowd, and.... nobody caught it. Nobody even seemed to see it. I stood there at the end of the show in a bit of shock when nobody claimed it.... and then BAM! Mine!
haha! I now have a pick necklace!
I wanted to stay to meet and at least say hi, shake a hand if I could, but by the time I got over my shock at getting a pick and turned to the line, mixed with the unfortunate state my stomach was in (pretty sure I've got food poisoning from that dinner as I've been horking all day today too lol), I decided rather than risk horking on anyone else, I should probably get back to my car, and save the meet and greet for next time... where I'll be keeping my cash in my wallet or in my purse, NOT my back pocket, buying at least a shirt, and hopefully get something signed.
For a first time, I'd say it was a pretty darned good concert!
